Recently I wrote about what (summer) Christmas beauty means to me: instead of the rich reds and crimsons favoured by winter Christmas beauty aficionados, I’ve always loved vivid, deep or festively bright pinks coupled with rich browns, all of which suit the bright light, warm air and festive summer dresses afforded by an Australian Christmas. In this post I featured a highlighter/illuminating fluid by Giorgio Armani Cosmetics – the Fluid Sheer, which is a gorgeous pairing with bright lips and/or breezy brown eyes. Highlighters are another perfect Christmas beauty product - their luminosity mirrors the magic of Christmas for me and they are ideal for Christmas parties and special occasions, just like curling your hair, booking indulgent facials or wearing your favourite perfume. Here are a four of my other favourite highlighters:
Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser. I like to mix a little bit of this with foundation, layered under powder, or blended over cheekbones and in a light vertical line from forehead, down nose and dabbed on chin. From Adore Beauty and Laura Mercier.
Nars Albatross Highlighting Blush Powder. An effective neutral highlighter (not too gold or too pink) which applies easily and really brightens the skin. From Mecca Cosmetica and Nars.
Guerlain Paris Meteorites Poudre de Perles Illuminating Perfecting Pressed Powder. I have this in Rose Frais and it is a pretty rose-to-peach illuminator which can double as a light blush or layered over blush. So pretty. From select department stores.
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector. This product is so cost-effective – a little goes a long way as it is best used as a highlighter or bronzer on the high points of the face (cheekbones, brow, sparingly on nose and forehead) rather than as an all-over product – it’s too shimmery! But used carefully the effect is less shimmer-glitz and more born-happy glow. From Adore Beauty and BECCA Cosmetics.
What are your favourite highlighters?
PS: More Christmas beauty and cheer here.
