Now I know a lot you do not like Valentine’s Day. Hallmark propaganda I hear you say; commercial riff-raff I hear you say; hokey and insincere I hear you say. Well, beauties, I am here to tell you to celebrate Saint Valentine’s Day the way it should be celebrated: with genuine love and affection and joy!
I love Saint Valentine’s Day because it is a day devoted to one of the most precious and wonderful things in life: love. Think about how rare and whimsical this is, especially in the modern world – a whole, entire, 24-hour day all about something intangible, emotional, mysterious and elusive. Love! I think we all need to stop and celebrate love, whether it is our beautiful partners and lovers, our best friends, our sisters, brothers, parents, or pets. I for one feel constantly lucky that I have so much love in my life, and have been graced with lots of love from lots of people from the moment I was born.
So maybe I am biased about this whole Saint Valentine’s thing but I really do think it is worth stopping for a moment to think about the love in your life and show how important this is. And you don’t event need to spend a cent to do this. Write a love letter on beautiful cartridge paper, or 50 on yellow post-it notes stuck throughout the house. Send everyone important to you a happy email. Bring your loved one a cup of tea in bed. Bake cupcakes for your mum or jam for your dad. Pop a bottle of champagne with your best friend. Spend lots of time kissing your better half, long and slow like you just met. Do whatever makes you happy – and whatever you know makes them happy. What makes me happy? A day dedicated to love of course!
Happy Saint Valentine’s Day!

We celebrated family love. We had a candlelit dinner with our kids & talked about what Valentines Day means to us. The girls loved decorating the table with votives & flowers from our garden. They helped me bake a special heart shaped dessert & Dad even came home with chocolates for them too!
