Hello Beauties!
I’m back from my Victorian sojourn and ready to embrace all things Christmas. I have just put up our Christmas tree; this year the tree has these beautiful new additions (pictured above). I found them in a gift shop and although (or perhaps because) they are somewhat roughly made I adore them because they remind me of very old Christmas ornaments, in particular the coloured glass pine ornaments someone very special to my family used to always decorate her tree with. My parents, little sister and I would visit during the Christmas period, and oftentimes for New Year’s Eve, and I envied this tree with its antique ornaments (our own ornaments were far too modern in comparison, although by modern standards I suspect ‘retro’ is more accurate) and its fresh spruce scent (this was a real tree, not the plastic kind we had!). The grown ups would drink champagne out of crystal stemware and my sister and I were also allowed the special glasses, albeit bubbling with soft drink. The front garden was heavy with the fragrance of old rose bushes and the house smelled of a miscellany of Christmassy cuisine.
